When I began my blog almost 3 years ago, I decided then and there that I was going to write it on Tuesday mornings, so it best expressed what I was thinking and feeling at the time. I wanted it to reflect my mood and be as authentic as possible. But I never factored in life. There’s a saying that goes, “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans,” which is absolutely 100% correct.
Each Tuesday, I woke up with the best of intentions to post but then I would have a meeting or a rehearsal or a phone call regarding an upcoming meeting or rehearsal and never post. It began to be a weight on my shoulder that felt heavier and heavier as each week passed. So, then I began asking myself, “Why am I putting so much pressure on myself?”
I think it’s a natural reaction that we all have. No matter how successful we are, we always find a way to find fault with ourselves. So, my next question is, “How do we change that?” Well that my friends IS the $100,000 question! I don’t have an answer right now, but I do know what my goal for 2024 will be; finding and creating a balance in my life that allows me to do what needs to be done without feeling guilty, understanding that it’s ok if everything on my to do list doesn’t get done and allowing myself to have me time.
As I’m writing this I’m already thinking, “You’re crazy! You’ll never figure this all out!” But I’ve always enjoyed a challenge and I will. I have read many books, attended seminars and have spoken to so many people about this subject and it’s time to take all that information and figure out what works best for me. I don’t know about you, but I feel another book coming!
Speaking of books, I am getting ready to publish my parenting memoir this spring (finally!) and I am almost finished working on Book 2 of the Marisela Discovers Music Series. It’s a very exciting time for me.
