As the holiday weekend approaches, I look forward to celebrating with my family. We normally stay close to home and keep our fingers crossed for beautiful weather. Over the years, I started traditions that I hope my kids will continue as they begin their own families. We barbecue, swim in our pool, make smores by the firepit (if it’s not too hot), light sparklers and look forward to fireworks. I decorate the front of our house, put up the American flag and create a red, white and blue centerpiece for our kitchen table. As I do this, I reflect on how lucky I am that I have the freedom to do all of this and will never take it for granted.
My kids look forward to my chicken wings, turkey burger sliders, macaroni salad, potato salad and my patriotic dessert, which changes every year depending on my mood. So, in the spirit of sharing, I thought I would share one of my recipes with all of you. I hope you enjoy it.
